Guardianship

A guardianship is a legal relationship created when a person or institution is named in a will or assigned by the court to take care of a minor or incapacitated adult. Legal Aid can assist family members or non-parents caring for children to become legal guardians when needed to benefit a child. A guardian for a minor or adult has the ability to make decisions about finances, medical care or personal care. Our volunteer attorneys can help to navigate through the legal process of guardianship.
